Kennedy Johnson Leads Gaels to 2-0 Conference Start, Shamrock Student-Athlete of the Week Winner

MORAGA, Calif. - Kennedy Johnson exploded for a combined 40 points to help Saint Mary's to a 2-0 start in WCC play for the first time since 2014. As a result, Johnson earns her first Shamrock Office Solutions Student-Athlete of the Week award of her SMC career.
Johnson stole the show Thursday night and hit the game tying three to force overtime with Santa Clara. She finished that game with a season high 25 points and 9 rebounds as the Gaels outscored the Broncos 11-3 in the overtime period for their sixth win out of their last seven matchups dating back to 2022.
Then Saturday, Johnson came alive down the stretch and scored 11 of her 15 points in the fourth quarter. A crucial three-point play helped build their lead late in the game and then the Gaels were 4-5 from the line to ice the five-point victory over LMU. She also added 7 rebounds in the game and now averages over 13 points on the season to lead the team.
Saint Mary's resumes conference action after the holiday break on Saturday, December 28th in a road matchup against Pacific. Tip-off is slated for 2:00PM and you can stream the game live on ESPN+.
