SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The West Coast Conference just announced the All-Academic Team, with three runners from the Saint Mary's Men's Cross Country team earning a spot. The last time three SMC male runners were on the list was during the 2020 COVID season. Senior
Curtis Volf, junior
Jason Habash, and senior
Aidan Donovan earned a spot on the team for their efforts both on and off the field, with junior
Eric Martinez receiving an honorable mention.
Volf was one of the Gaels top-3 finishers throughout the season, scoring for the team in four of five races they competed in. He took off mid-season as he was part of the Gaels top-3 finishers at the West Coast Conference Championship meet with a time of 25:12.0 good for 38th and placed 94th in his third NCAA West Regional meet. While being a crucial runner on the Gaels squad, Volf maintained a 3.68 GPA while studying mathematics.
With a 3.95 GPA in politics, Habash competed in five races, placing in the last two meets to earn points for Saint Mary's. The junior ran his personal best at the West Coast Conference Championship meet with a time of 25:10.0 placing 88th. Donovan also competed in five races this season, where he came close to his personal best at the Bill Dellinger Invite, missing it by 1.3 seconds. The senior studies chemistry and maintains a 3.63 GPA.
