MORAGA, Calif. - The Saint Mary's Women's Tennis team is heading to Davis on Saturday to face UC Davis and will be back in Moraga, Sunday to take on the University of Nevada.

The Gaels had a hard battle losing to San Jose State 4-3, where the Spartans dominated and secured the first four points of the match.
Olivia Rook and
Madison Weekley defeated one of SJSU's best competitors Carolina Millan and her duo Jovana Babic 6-1. After this win from the Gaels, the Spartans outshined Saint Mary's in the next few matches. San Jose secured the doubles point winning against SMC duo
Tian Yu Dong and
Juliette Daries 6-2, and duo
Stefanie Silva and
Sofia Daryaie 6-4.
The Spartans continued to dominate throughout the singles, securing the team win in just the first three sets. Gaels Silva lost to her opponent 4-6, 1-6, Dong fell short to her foe 1-6, 5-6, and
Iman Khan dropped to her competitor in three sets 4-6, 6-2, 2-6.
Although the Spartans had a 4-0 lead over the Gaels, SMC continued to fight in the last three singles. Saint Mary's put their first point on the board with Rook defeating SJSU Babic 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. Daryaie gave the Gaels another point by beating Olaya Bances Iglesias 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. Daries gave SMC their last point on court 4 defeating her opponent 6-4, 1-6, 6-4.

The Aggies have had home court advantage over their past three matches, two of those matches have resulted in wins. UC Davis will continue to play at home for two more matches where they will face WCC teams, University of the Pacific on Friday and Saint Mary's College of California on Saturday.
About three weeks ago, Junior Arianna Stavropoulos earned The Big West Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the second time in her career. She secured wins at #1 singles and #1 doubles against another WCC opponent, University of San Francisco. The junior secured the point in her singles defeating USF 6-3, 6-0 and her 6-1 in the doubles helped the Aggies to a 5-2 overall win.
ABOUT UNIVERSITY OF NEVADA
The Wolves have only had two head-to-head matches so far this season, where they defeated UC Davis 5-2 and fell short to Sacramento State 5-2. The University of Nevada will be on the road competing against WCC Santa Clara on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and the Gaels on Sunday at 10:00 a.m.
Just last week Kennedy Robinson was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week, her first honor of her collegiate career. Robinson helped the Wolf Pack to sweep both double points against UC Davis and Sacramento State. In Davis, the Freshman paired with Wiem Boubaker to defeat their opponents 6-4, clinching the doubles point. In Sacramento, Robinson and her duo Lou Anne Guerbert, won the doubles match 6-2, giving the Wolves a spark into the singles.
