LARA HEATS UP
Through the first 12 games of her collegiate career true freshman left fielder Camille Lara had shown her capabilities to play plus defense and as a capable nine hole hitter, batting .250 and consistently advancing runners and rolling things over to the top of the lineup. Of late, however, Lara has proven to be so much more than that for the Gaels. Over the last nine games, the freshman has seen her batting average jump over 80 points and has seen time all the way up in the number two spot of the lineup. Lara is one of four true freshman who start on a regular basis for Head Coach Sonja Garnett, as her incoming class for this season continues to be a huge bright spot for the Gaels.

ABOUT THE HAWKEYES
Out of the Big10 Conference, the defending NISC Champion Iowa Hawkeyes continue their 11 game California stretch in Moraga. Holding a record of 8-9, the Hawkeyes have yet to play a contest at home, and will not until their conference opener on March 22. California has not been too kind to the Hawkeyes, who have gone just 2-4 on the trip so far, falling below .500. Sixth year Head Coach Renee Gillispie, with 126 wins under her belt, hopes that her team can pick up momentum over this final stretch of non-conference play. It will be a homecoming game for freshman phenom Soo-Jin Berry, who hails from nearby Pittsburg. Berry is batting .316 in freshman campaign with a team-high 11 RBI, after a career that saw her bat .500 at Clayton Valley Charter. Junior Devyn Greer has been lights out in the circle, with a 3-3 record and a team-best 0.91 ERA. All-time, the Hawkeyes lead the series 4-3.

ABOUT THE RED FOXES
The Red Foxes of Marist are off to a great start at 13-5 with four more games coming up in Florida before heading west to Saint Mary's. Former New York Yankees pitcher Joe Ausanio is now in his 16th season at the helm of the Red Foxes, coming off of his third trip with his team to the NCAA Regionals. The Red Foxes boast five starters with batting averages over .500, headlined by last season's MAAC Rookie of the Year Haley Ahr (team-best .473 average) and senior Miah McDonald (team-high 4 HR and 26 RBI), coming off of a full season absence due to injury. Ace of the staff Kiley Myers is 5-2 on the season with a 2.02 ERA in her fifth season pitching for Marist. The all-time series between the Gaels and Red Foxes sits at 1-1, splitting a doubleheader in 2019.

ABOUT THE BISON
North Dakota State is also on a California swing, playing 10 in the Golden State. So far, the Bison are 0-5 on their trip, and will take on Pacific before squaring off with the Gaels. Darren Mueller enters his 23rd season at the helm of the Bison program that has existed for 46 seasons. He has picked up over 700 wins in his illustrious career. Sophomore infielder Bella Dean has led the Bison offense this season with a .302 average, six home runs and 21 RBI, all team-highs. The Bison have used five different starting pitchers, with true freshman Madison Wihlm having taking early ace duties with a 2-2 record and a 2.88 ERA. The Gaels have never beaten the Bison in five tries.
