MORAGA, Calif — In their final home match of the 2024 campaign, Saint Mary's Beach Volleyball (13-14) sent their five seniors (Cameron Martinez, Paola Peralta, Sadie Shipman, Hawley Harrer and Karmin Brown) out on a high note, sweeping the Sacramento State Hornets (7-19) for their third 5-0 win of the season. 

All five seniors picked up straight set victories, as the Gaels took the first three pairings to secure an early victory, and poured on the fourth for good measure. All of the excitement, however, was saved for the ones. Allie Cataldo and Hannah Couch jumped out to an early 21-12 set one victory, but dropped the second 21-18, forcing a decisive third. Cataldo/Couch fell behind by as many as three points early in this one, but knotted things up at 9-9. The Gaels would get just the separation they needed, going ahead 11-10, and not relinquishing that lead, taking the final set 15-13 for the clean sweep. This completed the Gaels season sweep of the Hornets, who they defeated 4-1 in San Jose earlier this season. 

The Gaels will close out the regular season with three matches against conference foes next week in preparation for the WCC Tournament. The first of those three will be on Wednesday, April 17 at Santa Clara. First serve is set for 3 PM.
