BSB | Three Gaels Highlight WCC All-Academic First Team, Six Additional Honorable Mention Selections

MORAGA, Calif. - On Monday, May 20th, the annual WCC All-Academic teams were announced with Christian Almanza, Nathan Chong and Connor Linchey being named to the First Team and six other Gaels earning Honorable Mention status. All nine selections for Saint Mary's showed success on the field and in the classroom as they held at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA while also significantly contributing to their team's success in at least their second year at the university.
The team's top First Team recipient was graduate student Connor Linchey who posted an impressive 4.00 GPA as a Business Administration major. Linchey has been a solid arm for the Gaels as a starter and out of the pen, making 16 appearances on the season and holding a 4-3 overall record.
Close behind for the Gaels was Nathan Chong who holds a 3.86 GPA as a senior Business Administration major. Chong has played in 48 games for the Gaels and enters the WCC tournament in good form after recording a pair of home runs in the team's last series against Portland.
The last First Team selection for Saint Mary's is first baseman Christian Almanza. As a senior, Almanza holds a 3.55 GPA in Management and Technology. He has also been a force on and off the field as he tied the single-season record with 22 home runs and has an impressive .345 batting average.
