MORAGA, Calif. - Wade Muttitt captured the year's first Shamrock Office Solutions Student-Athlete of the Week award for his game winner against Cal Poly on Sunday, helping the Gaels to their first victory of the 2024 season. 

After winning a loose ball in the Mustangs defensive half, Justin Sosa slipped a pass to Muttitt who drove at the Cal Poly backline before firing a shot from distance that found the back of the net off the side post, giving the Gaels a 1-0 lead. The goal went down as the team's first of the regular season and Muttitt's tenth of his SMC career.

Muttitt finished the weekend with a pair of starts, four total shots, one goal and 125 minutes of action. The Gaels will look to ride the momentum into a big road matchup against fifth ranked Stanford on Sunday, September 1st at 5:00 PM.
