Genevieve Bane Captures First Shamrock Office Student-Athlete of the Week Honors

MORAGA, Calif. — Following a 2-1 weekend for Saint Mary's Volleyball, redshirt junior outside hitter Genevieve Bane, has been named this week's Shamrock Office Student-Athlete of the Week at Saint Mary's College. This is Bane's first time winning this honor. She is the first volleyball player to earn the honor this season, with three Gaels, Kjersti Strong, Makenna Joyce and Ella Sandt all earning the award last season.
Bane put together the best three game stretch of her career this past week. She opened up with a career-high 17 kills against Cal, followed by an errorless performance against Oral Roberts in the Gaels first W of the season. She closed out by reaching the 15 kill mark again in a stellar four set win over Cal State Fullerton. For the week, Bane tallied 37 kills and committed just five errors, hitting over 0.300 in all three matches. This is the first time in Bane's career that she has hit over 0.300 in three consecutive matches. She also doubled her service ace tally, recording six on the week, after entering the week with six already under her belt.
Bane and the Gaels will have another three game week this week, hosting Air Force and Seattle on Thursday (5 PM) and Friday (6 PM) respectively, before hitting the road to take on San Jose State on Saturday (5 PM).
