BERKELEY, Calif. - Over the weekend the Saint Mary's women's tennis team competed in their first event of the 2024-25 season at the Cal Fall Invite. The Gaels had plenty of success in their opener and even had three players get to the final day of the event on Sunday. Veterans Iman Khan and Olivia Rook played their way into the doubles finals but fell to tournament host Tiziana Marie Schomburg and Naomi Xu from Cal. 

Also making it to the final day was third year member Madison Weekley. Weekly loss in straight sets in the semifinals of the gold flight to San Jose State's Emma Fantusis but recorded wins over Nevada and Pacific earlier in the weekend. 

"It's the first event of the year for us and it was great to get out there and get matches under our belt," said Gaels head coach Katharina Winterhalter. "We had some solid performances this week and it was great to see Khan and Rook make it to the finals of the top doubles draw in the event. We'll look to continue to build with this veteran group and prep for the ITA Regionals in a couple of weeks".
