Box Score 2 MANOA, HI - The Saint Mary's women's tennis team completed their two match road trip in Hawaii with wins over Hawaii Pacific and the University of Hawaii to improve to 2-1 in dual matches this spring season. After not dropping a single set against Hawaii Pacific on Wednesday, the Gaels fought their way back down 3-0 to defeat Hawaii with four singles victories and improve to 2-1 on the spring season.
Madison Weekley got Saint Mary's on the board with a win in straight sets before
Stefanie Silva,
Juliette Daries and
Olivia Rook won their singles matches in three sets to clinch the 4-3 victory. The Gaels will return to the mainland next week and host Sacramento State in a dual match on February 7th.
Saint Mary's vs. Hawaii Pacific | Wednesday, January 29th
They got things started with a swift 4-0 sweep over Hawaii Pacific on Wednesday.
MiaAngelina Ruja and
Olivia Rook dropped just one set to win their opening doubles match 6-1.
Juliette Daries and
Stefanie Silva would clinch the doubles point for the Gaels with a 6-0 sweep over Hawaii Pacific's Lynn Kader and Rosa Viller Moller.
Then in singles play, Silva, Ruja and reigning Shamrock Student-Athlete of the Week award winner
Iman Khan clinched the singles point for Saint Mary's with a trio of straight set victories. Rook, Daries and
Madison Weekley were all up after their first set but their matches would be halted with the victory already clinched for the Gaels. Not a single set was dropped on the day for head coach Katrina Winterhalter and her squad as the team kicked off their Hawaiian road trip in dominant fashion.

Saint Mary's vs. Hawaii University | Friday, January 31st
The Gaels match against Hawaii was originally slated for Thursday but got pushed to Friday due to weather. Despite the delay, Saint Mary's fought their way down three points after dropping two of the doubles matches and the two opening singles matches featuring
Iman Khan and
MiaAngelina Ruja. Weekley's straight sets victory seemed to energize the entire team and spark the comeback in the afternoon.
Olivia Rook battled back after dropping her first set to win her match 7-5 6-2. Silva dropped the second set in her match 7-5 but was able to take the deciding set 6-4 to earn the Gaels third point of the day. In similar fashion, Daries won the opening set but fell 7-6 on the tiebreaker in the second to force a deciding third set. Daries was down 2-4 early in the set but went on to win five of the next six points to clinch the match with a dramatic 7-5 third set win.
