MORAGA, Calif. — While Saint Mary's Student-Athletes and Coaches continue to impress in action, the Saint Mary's Athletics Staff continues to adapt and grow as well, and is excited to announce the hire of two new Associate Athletic Directors: Maurisa Dominguez and Ken Rancifer as well as the promotion of current Compliance Coordinator Anna Pytlak to the Director of Compliance role. Dominguez will serve as the new Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Rancifer will take on the role of Associate Athletic Director for Administration, with both scheduled to start here in the month of January.
"Here at Saint Mary's we want to do everything possible to make sure our student-athletes are equipped to succeed on the court/field, in the classroom and in their lives post graduation, and I believe that the additions of Maurisa and Ken and the promotion of Anna will help with that goal," noted Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Mike Matoso. "All of these personnel moves bring a plethora of knowledge and experience to their respective departments, and we look forward to seeing them impact Saint Mary's College Athletics."
Maurisa Dominguez comes to Moraga with years of Division I College Athletics Compliance experience, beginning from her time as an undergraduate at Fresno State. Dominiguez interned for two years in the compliance office at Fresno State while completing her B.S. in kinesiology with an emphasis in sports administration, and went on to serve as the graduate assistant for that same office while earning her master's degree in the same field. After a year spent as a compliance assistant at San Diego State, Dominguez was named the Assistant Director of Compliance at Cal Poly, not only navigating the complexities of the compliance world, but also facing the many challenges that came with working in collegiate compliance during the global pandemic. After four years at Cal Poly, Dominguez returned to her alma mater to serve as the Director of Compliance, a role that she has held since 2022. She is also finishing the pursuit of her MBA at Fresno State.
No stranger to the WCC, Ken Rancifer was a four year standout basketball student-athlete and sociology major at the University of San Diego, including time spent with the Toreros when current Saint Mary's VP for Intercollegiate Athletics Mike Matoso was serving as the Senior Associate Director of Athletics there. Rancifer appeared in 122 contests for the Toreros, serving as a team captain in his senior season, and went on to play professionally for a season for Sam Basket Massagno in Lugano Switzerland. After returning stateside, Rancifer began his coaching career at The Bishop's School in La Jolla, serving as both the JV Head Coach as well as an Assistant on the Varsity Staff. After leading the JV squad to a 27-1 record in the 2017-18 season, he returned to his collegiate alma mater to serve on staff as both the Video Coordinator and, more recently, an interim Assistant Coach for the Toreros, helping USD to one of their better seasons in recent history at 21-15 and an NIT berth 2019. After two years at San Diego, Rancifer changed paths from coaching to athletic administration, returning to his home East Bay to serve as the Athletic Director at the Bentley School in nearby Lafayette. In that time, he also founded The Assist Leadership and Life Coaching, consulting practice dedicated to advising students on their academic and athletic pursuits within the college context. After five years at that post, Rancifer will now make his first endeavor into collegiate athletic administration here in Moraga.
Anna Pytlak began her time at SMC as a member of the Rowing staff, including nine years spent as its Head Coach. In 2022, she transitioned to the Compliance Coordinator position, serving in that capacity for three years before earning this well deserved promotion. Pytlak holds a BS in biology and exercise physiology from Miami.
