10/10/2025 1:12:00 PM | Men's Cross Country
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — The Saint Mary's Men's Cross Country Team closed out their showing at the Bill Dellinger Invitational, placing sixth out of ten teams in a competitive field hosted by the University of Oregon. All of the Gaels' top finishers placed within the top 50 overall, contributing to the team's strong sixth place finish, their best since first competing in this meet in 2023.
Throughout the first 4000 meters of the race, the Gaels were led by junior Divan Du Plooy, who came through the 4K split in 11:49.9. By the 6000 meter mark, Zane Jackson surged to the front for the Gaels and went on to lead the team across the finish line. Jackson placed 16th overall with a time of 23:47.3, while Du Plooy finished less than a minute behind him, clocking in at 24:01.9 and snatching 24th overall. Next in for Saint Mary's was Oisin Spillane who earned his spot in 34th overall and crossed the line in 24:27.4. Jacob Moffett finished fourth for the Gaels, clocking in at 24:40.6 and securing 40th overall. Rounding off the scoring for Saint Mary's was Jason Habash, who earned his personal best time of 25:01.6 and secured a 50th place finish.
Making their second consecutive appearances at the Bill Dellinger Invitational, Jackson posted a strong improvement from last season, trimming off nearly 24 seconds from his 2024 finish, while Moffett delivered another steady performance for the Gaels.
After their sixth place finish in Springfield, the Gaels will have plenty of momentum as they go into their final race before WCC Championships. The next time Saint Mary's will compete is on Saturday, October 18th at the Bronco Invitational hosted by Santa Clara.
