MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's Men's Cross Country team is heading into their final regular season meet of the year at the Bronco Invitational after finding huge success at the Bill Dellinger Invitational just a week ago.
At the Bill Dellinger Invitational, the Gaels earned their best finish since first competing in this meet in 2023, as they placed sixth out of ten teams in a competitive field. Zane Jackson led the charge for the Gaels, placing 16th overall with a time of 23:47.3, with Divan Du Plooy finishing less than a minute behind him, earning a time of 24:01.9 and snatching 24th overall. Crossing the line next for Saint Mary's was Oisin Spillane who earned his spot in 34th overall, completing the race in 24:27.4. Jacob Moffett finished fourth for the Gaels, clocking in at 24:40.6 and securing 40th overall. Rounding off the scoring for Saint Mary's was Jason Habash, who earned his personal best time of 25:01.6 and secured a 50th place finish.
Competing at the Bronco Invitational is a smaller group of Gaels including juniors Moss Michelson and Diego Urdiales, sophomore Andrew Perez, and freshmen Jacob Schuetze, Anthony Sharp, Nick Shoemaker, Zack Springer, and Jackson Woolf. Out of these runners, freshman Anthony Sharp has the fastest 8k time that he earned at the Pacific Invitational where he finished first for the Gaels and 10th overall with a time of 25:38.4.
Moss Michelson is the only Gael who is returning to the Bronco Invitational. He'll look to build off of his performance last season, where he was the Gaels fifth best finisher.
The Bronco Invitational will be held at Baylands Regional Park in Sunnyvale on Saturday, October 18th at 8:45 AM. The course will take place adjacent to the bay and is flat, on mostly packed dirt, with some portions on grass.
