MORAGA, Calif. - For the first time in her Saint Mary's career, sophomore forward Edie Clarke was named this week's Shamrock Office Solutions Student-Athlete of the week after leading the Gaels in scoring and collecting a whopping 12 steals over their two wins against UC Riverside and Nevada.
The Gaels are off to their best start since 2015 and a big part of their success on both ends of the floor is second-year Gael Edie Clarke. Clarke possesses all the physical tools standing at 6-4 and as a true sophomore, she is coming into her own as an interior scoring threat and a dynamic defender, leading Saint Mary's with 9.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.2 steals per game.
This past week, Clarke averaged 12 points and five boards in the team's two wins over UC Riverside and Nevada. Clarke was a nuisance on the defensive end, recording six steals in back-to-back games. She has now had 5+ steals in three consecutive games and leads the team with 21 on the season. Clarke scored eight points in the Gaels 51-41 win over the Highlanders on Friday and then scored a game high 16 points on 8-of-10 shooting to defeat the Wolf Pack 56-50 on Sunday.
The Gaels are back in action this week in Berkeley, taking on Cal on Thursday, November 20th at 11:30 AM. Tickets can be bought online at smcgaels.com. Be sure to follow your Gaels on Facebook, Instagram, and X to get all the latest Saint Mary's athletics updates and information.
ALSO NOMINATED: Divan Du Plooy (MXC), Courtney Fitzgibbon (WXC), Luke Hoelting (MSOC), Mikey Lewis (MBB), Anaya Thrower (VB)
