MORAGA, Calif. - Saint Mary's women's tennis players
Stefanie Silva and
Juliette Daries swept this week's WCC weekly awards after their team's perfect week in Hawaii with wins over Hawaii Pacific and the University of Hawaii. This becomes the first sweep of the conference weekly awards for the Gaels since 2020 when Mariia Kozyreva won Singles Player of the Week and Chloe Goyette and Jordan Harris won the Doubles weekly award.
Silva went 2-0 in singles play with a straight sets win in her match against Hawaii Pacific and then won a dramatic singles match in three sets against Hawaii, helping tie the match up 3-3 at the time. This is the second time Saint Mary's has won Conference Singles Player of the Week this season. As a pair,
Juliette Daries and
Stefanie Silva won their match 6-0 over Hawaii Pacific on Wednesday. They were tied 5-5 in their doubles match against Hawaii two days later but the doubles point would get clinched by the Rainbow Warriors to halt their match. This is the first time this season SMC has claimed Conference Doubles Team of the Week honors.
After going down 3-0, the Gaels came all the way back with four singles victories to beat Hawaii 4-3 and improve to 2-1 in the spring season. This is Silva's and Daries' first conference weekly awards of their SMC careers. They will host Sacramento State in a dual match this weekend on Friday, February 7th starting at 12:00 PM.
