EUREKA, Calif. — Competing in all three races at the Humboldt Regatta, Saint Mary's Rowing was able to head back home with three wins, taking home victories in the varsity eight, varsity four and novice four races. Coming off of a win in a dual against Kansas State, the Gaels continue to ride momentum with three more wins this weekend. 

In the varsity eight race, the Gaels top boats took home first place by an 11 second margin over host Cal Poly Humboldt. The Gaels second varsity eight boat also competed in this race, finishing just two seconds behind the top Humboldt boat, good for third. The Gaels varsity four boat, made up of all freshmen, won a neck-and-neck battle with Cal Poly Humboldt, narrowly edging out their hosts by a 0.7 second margin. In the final race of the day, the novice fours, the Gaels bested Cal Poly Humboldt by a hefty 9.5 second margin to complete the trifecta of victories. 

Beaming with pride in his team, Head Coach Brian Ebke noted:

"This was a great day for us all around. Humboldt is the top ranked Division II team, and we are really excited to finish ahead of them in all of our races. Each boat performed at a high level, and I am especially impressed by the Varsity 4+ and 2V, reaching new heights compared to last year. Our season is off to a very strong start and we are getting faster every week. We are in a great place right now and are getting excited for the second half of our racing season."
