PORTLAND, Ore. - Saint Mary's resumed conference action after a thrilling home victory over Grand Canyon earlier in the week. The Gaels were looking for their first conference win since late March but came up short as Portland recorded just their second shutout of the season with a 4-0 sweep Sunday afternoon.
Madison Weekley and
Tiana Fox nearly forced a third deciding match for the doubles point as they fell in a tiebreaker 7-4. Portland went on to win the top three duals to quickly secure the 4-0 match victory.
Juliette Daries,
Iman Khan and
Olivia Rook fell in those three singles matches for the Gaels. Rook entered Sunday's match winning three of her last four duals but took her fifth singles loss of the season.
Saint Mary's held a six-match win streak over Portland dating back to 2018 but fell for the first time since the 2016 season.
