COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Gaels are looking to bounce back and finish in the top five again to be able to make it three of the past four tournaments. They face off in Missouri at The Club at Old Hawthorne, where low temperatures and high winds are sure to play a factor in the performance of the entire field.
The Tiger Invitational got off to a cold start as a frost delay pushed back tee times by two hours. However, that didn't stop a few of the Gaels who got off to a hot start with three of the five recording a birdie on their opening hole. Go Nakatsukasa had the round of the morning, finishing with a 70, even par, and an impressive t-7 position in the individual scoring. Zack Missigman, not far behind, scored a 71 (+1). The Gaels would end the opening round with a team score of 288 (+8) to lock up fifth place out of the 18 competing schools.
The second round would go late into the evening in Missouri, with the horn being blown at the 13th hole, where Connor Reis, along with Avery Lazarski, would step into the spotlight. Reis would finish the day one-under through 13 holes while Lazarski was even par through his 12 holes. The entire field struggled in the harsh conditions as all teams finished over par. Aidan Lee also sits inside the top-15 individually for Sainnt Mary's at three-over-par for the day. He recorded a 74 (+2) in the opening round and ended the day just one-over through eleven holes.
The Gaels (+10) team total only trails the first-place Nebraska Cornhuskers (+6) by four strokes. They will look to build off their performance and climb the leaderboard in the second round early in the morning at 7:00 AM Pacific and finish the tournament's third round later that afternoon. Live scoring for the final day can be found HERE.
