MORAGA, Calif. — The Saint Mary's College athletics department has made a pair of personnel moves ahead of the 2025-26 academic year to further strengthen its external operations. Entering his fourth year in Moraga,
Daniel Wray has been promoted to Senior Associate Athletics Director for Development, after serving as Associate Athletics Director for Development for three years. Additionally, Stephen Trembley has been hired as Associate Athletics Director for External Relations after spending the past 17 years in a variety of roles within the athletic department of Fresno State.
In his first three years in Moraga, Daniel Wray has been instrumental in numerous fundraising efforts both for individual teams and the athletic department as a whole, including the Men's Basketball Tip-Off Dinner, Baseball's First Pitch Dinner, Softball's Bases Loaded Brunch and the Gael Golf Classic. These initiatives have raised funds for program optimization and facility renovation, thus helping in both recruiting new student-athletes and the retention of current student-athletes in today's transfer portal-focused world of college athletics. On top of his role for athletic development, Wray has served as the sport supervisor for the Saint Mary's Baseball program, who won just their second ever WCC Title in 2025.
A 17-year veteran of the college athletics field, Stephen Trembley comes to Saint Mary's from Fresno State. In his role as associate athletics director for external relations, Trembley will lead the Gaels' communications, digital media, ESPN+ broadcasts, social media, on-campus marketing, fan engagement/in-game presentation and creative services. During his time with the Bulldogs of Fresno State, Trembley strategically developed the brand and profile of the department through innovative storytelling and the creation of new revenue and sales inventory, which enhanced fan engagement via live event production and digital media. He most recently served as Fresno State's senior director of broadcast strategies (2023-25) -- rising from communications intern (2008-10) to assistant director of communications (2010-13), new media coordinator (2013-14), director of new media (2014-21) and then director of strategic communications (2021-23). Originally hailing from San Ramon, Trembley also earned two degrees from Fresno State — a bachelor's in mass communication and journalism as a Smittcamp Family Honors College Presidential Scholar in 2008, and a master's in kinesiology in 2011.
