MORAGA, Calif. - Saint Mary's women's soccer pushed their unbeaten streak to seven games after defeating Gonzaga on Wednesday and then drawing 1-1 with San Francisco Saturday night, concluding the first week of conference action.
Sydney Middaugh scored the opener against USF on Saturday and had the assist on the game-winner on Wednesday against Gonzaga to be named this week's Shamrock Office Solutions Student-Athlete of the week.
Middaugh now leads the Gaels with four goals on the season and also has two assists, good for a team high ten points. Middaugh played all 90 in the WCC opener against Gonzaga and played a beautiful cross-field pass to setup
Brooklyn Smith for the game winning goal with just 27 seconds remaining. She then scored a brilliant solo effort goal in Saturday's match with the Dons, dribbling the length of the field on a counter to finish past the keeper in a one-v-one situation. This is Middaugh's second Shamrock Student-Athlete of the Week award this season and the third of her SMC career.Â
Saint Mary's is back in action this week with a road match against LMU on Saturday, October 4th at 4:00 PM. The match can be streamed live on ESPN+ and tickets can be bought online at smcgaels.com.Â
