SAN BRUNO, Calif. - For the third time this season, Saint Mary's goalkeeper
Kate Plachy was named the WCC Defensive Player of the Week after her combined 17 saves in the team's first two conference matches. Plachy improved her shutout streak to six games on Wednesday after a 1-0 victory over Gonzaga and then recorded a career high 12 saves in their 1-1 draw with San Francisco Saturday night.

For the first time in program history,
Kate Plachy has been named the WCC Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season after another pair of solid performances in goal. Plachy ranks third in the WCC with 40 total saves and also ranks 13th in all of Division I with six shutouts this season.
Plachy made five crucial saves in the team's dramatic one-goal victory over Gonzaga to start conference play 1-0 and extend their win/shutout streak to six games. The longest active streak in the nation though would come to an end on Saturday after the Gaels tied 1-1 with the Dons. Plachy put up heroic numbers in goal that night, finishing with a career high 12 saves off of 19 shots faced. Her 12 saves helped salvage a point for the Gaels as they remained unbeaten over their last seven games.
