WXC | Gaels Look to Repeat History, Take on Charles Bowles and Pacific Invitationals
10/1/2026 10:00:00 AM | Women's Cross Country
MORAGA, Calif. - Saint Mary's women's cross country will run in two events this weekend, first taking on the Pacific Invitational this Friday, October 2nd in Lodi, California, followed by the Charles Bowles Invitational in Salem, Oregon, and look to run just as they did in 2024 when they placed first in both meets.
In their last meet, the Saint Mary's Invitational, the Gaels placed seventh in a field of 15 teams at the Gaels' first home meet since the 2021 WCC Championships. Sophomore Courtney Fitzgibbon led the way for the Gaels just as she has done in every meet this season, placing 38th out of 160 runners while crossing the finish line in 21:45.8. Next up for Saint Mary's was freshman Audrey O'Connor, who clocked a time of 21:48.9 to finish 39th, finishing right behind Fitzgibbon for her highest placement as a Gael. Rounding out the top five for the Gaels were sophomore Zoe Leach, completing the race in 21:54.0, followed by Julia-Anna Lily Bell at 22:07:2 and Eleanor Jepsen at 22:07:3.
Representing the Gaels at Friday's Pacific Invitational will be seniors Eleanor Jepsen and Britney Perera, juniors Alexis Ortiz and Luna Mole, sophomores Peyton Miles, Kylie Wisely, and Emma West, and freshman Sadie Cotten. Of this group, Eleanor Jepsen and Luna Mole were the only finishers at the 2024 Pacific Invitational in which the Gaels placed first in, as well as current women's cross country coach Rayna Stanziano finishing second overall.
Representing the Gaels at Saturday's Charles Bowles Invitational will be seniors Jane Carney and Julia-Anna Lily Bell, junior Jane Harig, sophomores Courtney Fitzgibbon, Zoe Leach, Maya Crimin, Ava Luczkow, and Flavia Linares, and freshman Audrey O'Connor. Of this group, Jane Harig was the only finisher at the 2024 Charles Bowles Invitational, where she finished 25th on the day the Gaels took first place.
The Pacific Invitational is a mostly flat area with three 2k loops for the women's 6k at Mickey Grove Golf Course. The Charles Bowles Invitational will be a 5k for the women, with mostly cemented and graveled paths on the course. Friday's race will start at approximately 5 p.m., while Saturday's race will begin at approximately 10:20 a.m.
