10/9/2026 12:26:00 PM | Men's Cross Country
SALEM, Ore. — The Saint Mary's men's cross country team continued its 2026 season at the Bill Dellinger Invitational on Friday morning, placing fifth out of ten teams. The Gaels improved upon last season's sixth-place finish at the meet, moving up one spot in this year's results. An experienced group led the way for Saint Mary's, with juniors, seniors, and a graduate student accounting for all five of the Gaels' top finishers.
Redshirt senior Joseph O'Connell continued his strong start to the season, leading the Gaels across the finish line for the second time this season and placing sixth overall in a field of 90 runners with a time of 23:58.8. The impressive performance marked O'Connell's second top-ten finish in as many appearances this season. Next in was graduate student Stuart Terrill, who crossed the finish line in 24:21.9 to take 16th place. Following him was redshirt senior Damian Frausto, who completed the 8K in 24:53.2 to place 34th overall. Rounding out the Gaels top five finishers were Jacob Moffett (25:17.3, 50th) and Dennis Cheruiyot (25:18.1, 51st) who finished back-to-back. Moffett was the fourth Gael across the finish line for the second consecutive year at the Bill Dellinger Invitational.
Senior Alan Solari also turned in a strong performance, recording his new personal best 8K time of 25:31.4. His previous best of 25:37.5 was recorded just a month ago at the USF Invitational, where he finished second for the Gaels.
Saint Mary's will be back in action next weekend on Saturday, October 17 at the Bronco Invitational taking place at Baylands Park in Sunnyvale.
