2/5/2026 12:23:00 PM | Women's Rowing
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. — The Gaels are just a little over a month away from their first competition of the Spring, but before the shells hit the water, preseason accolades must be awarded. Heading into the 2026 campaign, three Gaels have been named to the For Stars Network Preseason Watchlist: Skye Kirsten, Lia Segrest and Ally Skoog.
These athletes have successfully earned FSN Honors and were nominated by the FSN Core Staffers multifariously and ultimately decided upon due to the following:
Rowing Season (2024-2025):
▪️Regular Season Matchups
▪️Conference Championship Placement & Results
▪️National Championship Lineups & Results
Rowing Season (2025-2026):
▪️Fall Racing (Regattas & Scrimmages)
Miscellaneous (2025-2026):
▪️Comparative Erg Times
▪️International Results
▪️Positive Yearly Trajectory (Talent & Raw Skill)
▪️Coaching Staff Nominations
A junior out of San Francisco, Skye Kirsten is coming off of a season where she was a coxswain for every Gaels event, Skye now enters her third season in Moraga, but has switched her focus to being a rower, but will bring experience as an experienced leader.
True freshman Lia Segrest hails from Austin, Texas and was a four year varsity rower at the Waterloo School. Segrest also competed in the youth national circuit, helping her team to a 13th place finish in 2024 and a 12th place finish in 2025 in the 4+ boats. This was enough to create much buzz around the young Segrest in Moraga.
Another first year Gael, true freshman Allison Skoog was a standout at Glacier Peak High School in Snohomish, Washington, where she lettered in rowing, cross country and track and field. Skoog also competed for the Everett Rowing Association at the club level. An extremely well rounded athlete, Skoog will look to be another young spark for the Gaels team.
About the honors, Head Coach Brian Ebke noted:
"Skye, Lia, and Ally are all making a big impact on our team right now and clearly have a bright future in front of them. Skye was a coxswain the last two years and just switched to rowing and is regularly in the top 10 on our erg chart. Lia and Ally are both freshmen who have come in with a desire and openness to getting faster and have both done great work on their 5ks this year. I am excited to see what all 3 of them help our team accomplish this spring!"
The Gaels will open competition on March 7 at the Sacramento Invitational on Lake Natoma.
