

ROW | Saint Mary’s Varsity 8 Boat Wins First-Ever WCC Crew of the Week

MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's rowing has earned their first-ever West Coast Conference Crew of the Week after its impressive performance at the Hornet Invitational on Saturday.
The 1V8+ boat of coxswain Mavis Read-Kinney, Carolyn Huckel, María Moreno, Fiona Samuelson, Katelyn Robertson, Lia Segrest, Danijela Concion, Chloe Casement, and Kelly Nelson had two sets of races starting with a race against UCSD in the morning where the Gaels won the race in 6:45.9, beating the Tritons by 15.2 seconds. In the afternoon, the Gaels took on Kansas State and won the race in 7:10.4, 16.1 seconds quicker than the Wildcats.
Saint Mary's ended the day with a complete sweep, winning all nine of their races.
The Gaels will be back in action on Saturday, March 28 when they take on the Lumberjacks of Cal Poly Humboldt in Arcata, California.
