MGOLF | Saint Mary’s Moves Up Two Spots Ahead of Final Round at El Macero Classic

DAVIS, Calif. - The Saint Mary's men's golf team moved up two spots on the leaderboard into fourth place after the second round of the 2026 El Macero Classic on Saturday. The Gaels shot 6-over-par as a team but El Macero Country Club played the toughest it had all weekend, finishing more than three strokes over par on Saturday with just two teams recording rounds under par.
Redshirt junior Inigo Izuzquiza helped carry the Gaels on Saturday with a low round of 71 (-1), jumping 32 spots on the individual leaderboard. Avery Lazarski was also even par on the day and crept into the top-10 individually, sitting in a tie for ninth place at a combined even par for the two rounds at El Macero. Lazarski ranks second in the field in total pars and will search for his third top-10 of the 2025-26 season in the final round on Sunday.
Fellow West Coast Conference member Pacific continues to lead the field at 2-under-par. Saint Mary's will need a low score on Sunday in an effort to crack the top-three as they sit nine strokes out of a tie for third place.
