BVB | Gaels Continue to Add Talent from the Grand Canyon State, Sign Reese Ragains

MORAGA, Calif. — Throughout Janice Harrer's tenure as the Saint Mary's Beach Volleyball head coach, the Gaels have enjoyed a bevy of solid players from the state of Arizona. Angelina Bour, Bella Reyes and Sedona Sherman all hailed from the Phoenix area before making their ways to Moraga and making an impact for the Gaels. Coach Harrer has now gone back to that Arizona well to add Reese Ragains to her 2027 roster.
A graduate of Desert Vista High School in Phoenix, Ragains played four years of prep beach volleyball to go along with a two-year indoor career for the Thunder. On the sand, Ragains helped her squad to a 47-12 record, including a D-1 Section 1 title in 2024 and a trip to the state quarterfinals in 2023, 2024 and 2025. She was twice named to the all-city and all-section teams as a junior and senior. On the hardwood, Ragains played outside hitter, and was known as a stout back row defender, tallying nearly 300 digs in her varsity career.
"We are really excited to welcome Reese Ragains to Saint Mary's Beach Volleyball! Coming out of Arizona and a high level club program like Dune, Reese already brings a strong foundation and a good amount of experience competing as a junior player." noted Coach Harrer, "We are looking forward to her development within our program and what she will add to the team as a freshman!"
On why she chose Saint Mary's, Ragains noted:
"Besides falling in love with the campus on my visit, I chose Saint Mary's because I know I will be challenged while also heavily supported."
Ragains will be the fourth true freshman joining Coach Harrer's squad for the 2027 season, an incoming class that now represents three different states, California, Arizona and New Mexico.
