WXC | Fitzgibbon Leads Again as Gaels Take Seventh at Saint Mary’s Invitational

CONCORD, Calif. — In its second race of the season, the Saint Mary's women's cross country team placed seventh overall in a field of 15 teams at the Gaels' first home meet since the 2021 WCC Championships.
Leading the way for the Gaels once again was sophomore Courtney Fitzgibbon, who crossed the finish line in 21:45.8 for a 38th place finish out of 160 runners. Fitzgibbon has started the 2026 season as the first Gael across the finish line in back-to-back races. Next in for Saint Mary's was freshman Audrey O'Connor, who clocked a time of 21:48.9 to finish 39th, right behind Fitzgibbon. Zoe Leach was next to cross the finish line, completing the race in 21:54.0. Julia-Anna Lily Bell and Eleanor Jepsen rounded out the top five for Saint Mary's, finishing back-to-back in 57th and 58th with times of 22:07.2 and 22:07.3, respectively.
Freshman Sadie Cotten made her debut as a Gael and crossed the finish line in 24:31.0.
Saint Mary's will return to action at the Charles Bowles Invitational on Saturday, October 3 in Salem, Oregon.
