MORAGA, Calif. — The Saint Mary's men's water polo team is set to make more history with the program's first-ever home game set for Sunday, September 6 at 11 a.m. against Whittier College.

GAELS OUTLOOK
Building Momentum at the Triton Invitational…
Saint Mary's opened its inaugural season with its first-ever wins over Bucknell and Mercyhurst at the Triton Invitational. The Gaels also faced a challenging slate, as they took on four nationally ranked opponents throughout the weekend, but showed competitiveness and mental toughness over the six games. The team was named the Anti Wave Team of the Tournament, while Leo Hachem was named the Anti Wave Tournament MVP after tallying 15 goals.
Bringing the Historic Start Home…
Following the historic opening weekend in San Diego, the Gaels return home to Moraga for their inaugural home game. Saint Mary's will take the pool at the Soda Aquatic Center for the first time, as they host Whittier College. The Poets enter Sunday's matchup with a familiar connection to the new Gaels team, as Noah Bigara and Ethan Klerck began their collegiate careers at Whittier.
ABOUT THE POETS
Last season, Whittier went 17-12 overall, ending its season ranked fifth in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC). Following the 2025 season, the Poets were picked to finish sixth in the SCIAC. During the 2025 season, now Gael Noah Bigara finished the season as the Poets' leading scorer, tallying 74 goals by the end of his sophomore year.
Saint Mary's is set to host Whittier College on Sunday, September 6 with game time set for 11 a.m. Tickets can be purchased at smcgaels.com/tickets and the game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
