Mariah Cameron joined the Gaels coaching staff in February of 2023 as an assistant coach.

Cameron has been a part of a stellar stretch for Saint Mary's under head coach Theresa Romagnolo. Over her three seasons in Moraga, Cameron and the Gaels have combined for 29 wins including a pair of 10-win seasons in 2023 and most recently in 2025. This past fall, Cameron was a part of one of the most successful women's soccer campaigns in program history as Saint Mary's went 12-2-4 and 7-1-3 in WCC play to finish in second place, the program's best conference finish since 2000. The seven WCC wins also set a new program record for conference wins as the Gaels earned a total of six all-conference selections and had a pair of award winners in Coach of the Year (Theresa Romagnolo) and Goalkeeper of the Year (Kate Plachy).

Cameron along with assistants Emily Kruger and Sophie Elam went on to be named the program's first ever United Soccer Coaches West Region Staff of the Year to help cap off a historic 2025 campaign. Cameron specializes in defensive alignment and positioning for Saint Mary's and was rewarded for her efforts in 2025 with senior center back Amari Hicks named to the United Soccer Coaches All-West Region First Team as well as United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America Third Team for the program's first ever Scholar All-American.

Prior to Saint Mary's, Cameron also worked on the staff at Holy Names University for the 2022 fall season. Cameron helped the Hawks to a 7-9-2 overall record before joining the Gaels coaching staff the ensuing spring.

Cameron brings not only her coaching experience to the Gaels but also more than 10 years of playing experience at the highest level of professional soccer.

Her playing career began at Washington State University, where she played in 74 games throughout her four-year career with the Cougars. Although she played as a defender, Cameron wasn’t averse to scoring or assisting, recording one goal and three assists over the course of her collegiate career.

After graduating from Washington State in 2012 with a BA in Psychology, Cameron turned pro, first playing stateside with the SF Nighthawks. After one season she took her talents abroad, first playing for Nottingham Forest WFC in England for one season before hopping across town to play a season at Notts County FC.

During her time in Nottingham, Cameron continued her studies as well, earning her MA in Person-Centered Experimental Counseling and Psychotherapy from the University of Nottingham.

Soon after Cameron left England she played one season for Lugano Femminile in the Swiss league. She then left for Italy and found a home in the Italian league, playing one season in the Serie B with the Ravenna Women. Her success there landed her a spot on one of the biggest clubs in Italy, Napoli, where she played in Italy’s Serie A from 2019-2021.

After Cameron hung up her cleats in 2021, she returned to her hometown of Castro Valley to kick start her coaching career. Having coached intermittently in-between her playing career, she took up a coaching role in the Dublin United Soccer League. That same year, Cameron also founded her own coaching academy, You + You Performance Coaching, where she works with athletes, coaches, and organizations to help improve performance through mental skills and various strategies.
