Moraga, CA - The Saint Mary's women's soccer team (9-9-1/3-3 WCC) fell to the #10 ranked Pepperdine Waves (15-1-2/5-1 WCC), 2-1, on Sunday, November 3, in West Coast Conference action on Garaventa Field.
The Waves ended a scoreless tie at the 26:06 minute mark when April Pettigrew found an opening in the right corner off an assist from teammate Jenna Fodor.
At the end of the first half the score remained, while the Waves outshot the Gaels by a 5-1 advantage.
Pepperdine increased its lead at the 55:12 minute mark when Ali Pavoni tallied her 10 goal of the season on a Lacey Ubaldi assist.
With 35 seconds left in the game, Sarah Burgess scored the Gaels lone goal, her seventh of the season, on an assist from senior Krista Kiisk.
SMC goalkeeper Ruth Montgomery finished with five saves, while Pepperdine's Anna Picarelli recorded none. The Waves outshot the Gaels 10-3 in the contest.
The Gaels will finish out the season when they travel to Los Angeles, CA to play Loyola Marymount on Saturday, November 9. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
