Final Stats

Moraga, CA - The Saint Mary's women's soccer team (1-4-1) tied the #11 California Golden Bears (4-1-1), 1-1, in their first home game on Sunday, September 15, on Garaventa Field. Sarah Burgess led the offense with one goal and four shots.

The Gaels were the first to score with 8:21 left in the second half as Burgess fired a shot past the keeper on an assist from Sarah Takekawa. This was Burgess' second goal on the season.

Cal tied up the score with fourteen seconds left on the clock to send the game into overtime. Brittany Kirk headed in a shot to the left corner after a scramble in front of the goal.

In overtime the Bears outshot the Gaels 4-0, but neither team was able to score. SMC's Ruth Montgomery finished the game with six saves, while Cal's Sani Post tallied eight saves.

The Gaels will return to action on Sunday, September 22 as they play at Sacramento State. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
