
Volleyball Handles Grambling State, 3-0

Fort Worth, TX- The Saint Mary's women's volleyball defeated Grambling State by the final score of 3-0 in its second match of the 2003 TCU Molten Invitational. Game scores of the Gaels victory over the Tigers were 30-19, 30-19, 30-24. With the victory Saint Mary's improved its overall record to 11-4 on the season while Grambling State fell to 7-15.
Saint Mary's outplayed the Tigers as they dominated the offensive attack for the match. Saint Mary's 53 kills were far superior to Grambling State's total of 33.The Gaels .346 attacking percentage also bettered the Tigers .165.
Leading the attack for the Gaels was Jill Parmele. The Acampo, CA native totaled 14 kills and two digs against the Tigers. Also contributing for Saint Mary's was Kaui Salzman. The sophomore totaled 12 kills, four digs, and three aces for the match.
Also providing outstanding support was Stacey O'Connor. The 2002 All-WCC Honorable Mention honoree totaled eight kills, two aces, one dig, and one block assist.
The Gaels will resume action tomorrow, September 27 against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at noon.
