Moraga, CA - Saint Mary's dropped its first match of the season, as the No. 61 ranked Cal Poly Mustang blanked the Gaels 7-0. The Mustangs who proved to be too much for SMC, improved their record to 2-1 and the Gaels drop to 0-1.
Freshman No. 1 player Aude Lambert fell to Cal Poly's Samantha Waller in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. Saint Mary's Junior Megan Schulman took Sheila Lewis to three sets before falling 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 at No. 4. In doubles the Gaels' No. 1 pair of Nicole Hunstock and Lambert dropped their match to Kristen Grady and Waller 8-4.
The Gaels return to action on Jan. 31, when they travel to California for a 10:00 am start.
