BERKELEY, Calif. - Saint Mary's women's tennis got their fall campaign underway at the Cal Invite over the weekend. The Gaels had several standout performances throughout the weekend including a series of singles victories from Iman Khan in the Blue Singles Draw, defeating players in straight sets from Sacramento State and Stanford. 

In the Gold Singles Draw, junior transfer Elif Tuana Gunal made her SMC debut in style with four victories, defeating Madhumitha Satishbabu (SCU) and Pauline Lerminiaux (PAC) in straight sets and then battling to three-set wins over Cristina Mateos Losada (SJSU) and Rayna Sugai (PAC). 

In the Doubles Main Draw Madison Weekley and Sofia Daryaie defeated Maggie Hoe/Leyanne Hirota from Pacific in an exciting 8-6 match. The SMC duo would lose in the next round to Lou Baudouin/Irene Riva from Sacramento State to end their doubles run. The Gaels ended the weekend with some success in a doubles consolation draw with Iman Khan and Sophie Stanton recording three wins over San Jose State and a pair of Pacific duos.
