
Baseball Drops Two Close Games to Pacific

Stockton, CA - The Saint Mary's baseball team narrowly avoided a sweep by the Pacific Tigers on Sunday at Billy Hebert Field in Stockton, CA, but instead Pacific pulled out a 2-1 victory in the first game and a 2-0 victory in the second game. With the loss the Gaels drop to 3-12 on the season, while Pacific improved to 8-4.
In the first game, the Gaels were led by Bryan Byrne, who went 2-for-4 and Adam Bellows also went 2-for-4 with one run scored. The Gaels' J.P. Musgrove drove in the Gaels' lone run of the day.
The Gaels also received a solid pitching performance in the first game of the doubleheader from Jordan Simo. Simo pitched eight innings, allowing two runs on six hits.
In the second game of the day, the Gaels were led by pitchers Allan Lobban and Matt Dolen. Lobban started the game and pitched seven innings, allowing one earned run on five hits and striking out six batters. Dolen pitched a scoreless eighth inning.
Offensively, the Gaels were led by Bryne, Bellows, Preston Young and Gilbert Urbina, who each had one hit.
Saint Mary's returns to action on Tuesday, March 2, when it travels to Davis to face the UC Davis Aggies at 2 p.m.
