Moraga, CA - The Saint Mary's women's basketball team dropped its third West Coast Conference game of the season on Saturday night, losing 70-45 to visiting Loyola Marymount at McKeon Pavilion. With the loss the Gaels fall to 10-8 overall and 2-3 in conference play. Loyola Marymount improved to 4-2 in conference play and 10-9 overall.

Saint Mary's only trailed by four going into halftime, but unlike Thursday night when the Gaels scored 48 points in the second half, on Saturday night Saint Mary's only scored 19 points over the final 20 minutes.

The Gaels were led offensively by Brianna Winn, who scored 12 points and grabbed five rebounds. Erika Urmonaite had eight points and five rebounds and Triola Jackson added eight points and four rebounds. Jackson's streak of three consecutive games with a double-double came to an end as well.

After changing leads four times in the first half, the Lions hit two 3-pointers early in the second half, to give them a 36-28 lead with 17:05 left in the game after a Rachel Ziemann 3-pointer. Saint Mary's cut the lead to 36-29 after an Eghosa Obaiza free throw, but that was as close as they would get in the second half.

Saint Mary's also received six points and four rebounds from Evynn Van Burger and Obaiza had four blocks, five rebounds, three steals and three points in 20 minutes of action off the bench.

As a team the Gaels shot 24.6 percent from the field, their second lowest of the season, and 22.2 percent from 3-point range. Loyola Marymount shot 47.7 percent from the field and 46.2 percent from 3-point range.

Saint Mary's returns to action on Thursday, January 27 when it travels to San Francisco to take on the Dons at 7:05 p.m.
