
Volleyball Drops First Match of Tourney to No. 20 Ohio

Stockton, CA - The Saint Mary's women's volleyball team dropped their opening match of the Pacific Tournament on Friday night in Stockton, falling to No. 20 Ohio 3-1. The Gaels will play Pacific in the consolation match on Saturday at 5 p.m.
With the 26-30, 20-30, 30-25, 27-30 loss the Gaels fall to 18-9 overall, while Ohio improved to 30-2 on the year. Sacramento State beat Pacific 3-2 in the tournament's second match of the night. Sacramento State will face Ohio in the championship match at 7 p.m.
The Gaels were led offensively by Kaui Salzman, who had a double-double with 14 kills and 14 digs and Missie Stidham had 19 kills and 13 digs. Setter Mandy Bible recorded 54 assists, 14 digs, six kills and three blocks to set the pace for Saint Mary's.
Saint Mary's freshman middle blocker Brittany Barker had nine kills and six blocks and freshman opposite hitter Taylor Groess recorded eight kills. Christina Kirk added six kills and one block in her first match back.
As a team the Gaels hit .220, recorded 8.5 blocks and had 64 digs. The Bobcats hit .318, recorded 79 digs and had seven blocks.
