Moraga, CA - The Saint Mary's men's tennis team continued to play tough tennis at the Korth Tennis Complex, defeating Georgia Southern 5-2 on Wednesday afternoon. With the win Saint Mary's improves to 7-0 while playing on their home court this season. The Gaels won five singles matches against the Eagles, earning five team points, at the No. 1, 2, 4, 5, and 5 positions.
Each of the Gaels singles wins came in two quick sets, with senior Joel Kusnierz leading Saint Mary's with a 6-2, 6-3 win at the No. 1 position. Lucas Tirelli and Achim Christner followed Kusnierz's lead, as they defeated their opponents 6-3, 6-4, and 6-1, 6-0 respectively. Andrea Zannoni and Youssef El Boozkouri rounded out the singles wins for the Gaels, as Zannoni defeated his opponent 6-1, 6-4, while El Bouzkouri won 6-2, 6-3.
In double action the Gaels were unable to capture the point, as Joel Kusnierz and Lucas Tirelli earned their only win, with an 8-2 win over Borja Malet and Emmanuel Nkoueleue.
The Gaels return to action against Fresno State on March 26 at 5:00 PM.
