As a senior (2012-13): One of three players to start all 35 games during the season ... tied for sixth on the school's list for career field goal percentage at .556 ... averaged 7.7 points and 5.6 rebounds per game ... shot .734 from the free throw line ... went 6-for-18 from behind the 3-point arc ... finished ranked 12th in the WCC in rebounding average ... opened the season with an 11-point, 7-rebound effort as a starter against Sonoma State ... scored 11 points in win over Pacific to go with eight rebounds ... pulled down 10 rebounds against Northern Iowa ... Played the hero in win over Harvard, making two free throws with 1.1 seconds left to give SMC its only lead of the game ... scored a season-high 16 points in the game ... led Gaels with nine rebounds against LMU ... went 6 for 6 from the line en route to 14 points in win over San Francisco.
As a Junior (2011-12): Appeared in 28 games overall and started the first three games of the season ... averaged 4.6 points and 2.8 rebounds per game and shot .607 from the field ... hampered with a couple of injuries during the season, missing three games early in the season due to a groin injury and two conference contests due to a foot injury ... matched season-high with 12 points in NCAA Tournament game against Purdue ... went 6-of-8 against the Boilermakers ... scored nine points in the opener against Fresno Pacific and grabbed six rebounds in 19 minutes of action ... registered two blocks and two steals against Northern Iowa ... scored six points at Denver in 21 minutes ... did not play in Shamrock Classic or at Cal Poly due to a groin injury ... scored 12 points in home win over Gonzaga ... equaled season-high with six rebounds against the Bulldogs.
As a Sophomore (2010-11): The WCC leader in field goal percentage throughout the season ... registered 19 double-figure scoring games ... led the team in rebounding seven times during the year ... set career-high with three steals against Kent State in the NIT ... led the team in WCC Tournament semifinals against Santa Clara with 17 points ... went 7-10 from the field against the Broncos ... registered first career double-double with 11 points and career-high 11 rebounds in Sears BracketBusters game against No. 24 Utah State ... grabbed nine rebounds at San Diego ... scored team-high 24 points in career-high 30 minutes at Toreros ... scored 11 points at San Francisco ... scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds at Santa Clara ... scored 15 points with six rebounds and two blocks against LMU ... went 5-for-5 from the free throw line vs. the Lions ... made a key free throw late in the game at Gonzaga to put the Gaels up two points with :18 seconds left ... just missed a double-double at Pepperdine with 16 points and nine rebounds ... scored with 13 points and eight rebounds in 19 minutes against Hartford ... scored 12 points in 26 minutes against Mississippi State ... named the WCC Co-Player of the Week on 12/27 after scoring a combined 48 points against Long Beach and New Mexico State ... scored a game-high 20 points at New Mexico State, going 10-for-14 from the floor in just 21 minutes of action ... scored a career-high 28 points, going 13-for-18 in the win over Long Beach State, in that game he recorded a career-high in field goals made and attempted as well as minutes played ... scored 14 points, shooting 6-for-9 from the field against Denver ... played 20 minutes, scoring 12 points going 5-for-8 from the field against No. 23 BYU in the championship game of the South Padre Island Invitational ... Came off the bench to score 10 points and pull down a game-high eight rebounds against the College of Idaho, and as 4-for-5 from the floor in 17 minutes.
As a freshman (2009-10): Averaged 3.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 0.6 blocks per game...was third on the team with 22 blocked shots...played in all 34 games as a freshman, all as a reserve, averaging 13.9 minutes per game...appeared in all three NCAA Tournament games, seeing just four minutes of action, was 1-for-2 from the free throw line for his only points...made his collegiate debut against New Mexico State (11/13/09), finished with four points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal in 13 minutes of play...had career-highs with 12 points, six field goals, and eight field goals attempted against Howard (12/30/09)...played a career-high 23 minutes against Santa Clara on Jan. 10...also had career-highs with seven rebounds and five blocks in that game...had a career-high three assists against Pacific (12/18/09)...had 10 points, four rebounds, two blocks, and two assists against Portland State (12/15/09).
Before Saint Mary's: Comes to Saint Mary's from the Australian Institute of Sport, where he played in 2008 and 2009...in his first season at the Institute in 2008, he averaged 9.9 points and 4.0 rebounds per game, started 24 games for AIS in SEABL play, and scored in double figures 12 times...shot 45.6 percent from the floor while tallying 95 rebounds, 43 offensive, and recorded a team-high 35 blocked shots to average 1.4 blocks per game in his first season at AIS...prior to his time at the AIS, Young was a starting post player for the U20 Australian National Team the Emus...helped Queensland win the 2009 U20 National Championship...in 2008 he helped his team win bronze medals at the Albert Schweitzer Tournament in Germany and the William Jones Cup in Taipei...was on the Australian team that competed in the Oceania Qualifiers vs. New Zealand in 2008...a member of the U18 Nationals in Launceston and toured Italy with the AIS in 2007...in 2006, was a member of the U18 Nationals in Adelaide and the U18 school nationals in Perth and competed in the Oceania Youth Tournament in New Zealand.
Personal: Born Mitchell Young to Graham and Julie Young on August 6, 1990...has two younger brothers named Billy and Zach...played basketball for the Logan Thunder Junior Basketball Club since he was 12 years old...plans to major in Business Administration.
