Getting Certified by the NCAA Eligibility Center
Every student who wishes to compete in Division I college athletics must be certified by the NCAA Eligibility Center. Not receiving a certification decision in a timely manner could affect your ability to practice and compete:
Non - recruited student-athlete:
• May practice for 45 days without receiving a certification decision
• May not practice after 45 days without receiving a certification decision
• May NOT COMPETE without receiving a certification decision
To receive your certification decision, take the following steps. Start today:
1. Register on-line at the NCAA website at ncaa.org. Go to Legislation & Governance on the left and select Eligibility and Recruiting from the drop down. Next click on the link for the Eligibility center (address is https://web1.ncaa.org/elgibilitycenter/common/index.htm/). Follow the steps for "Prospective Student Athlete". You will need your social security number and a credit card. Make sure that you complete all the steps and RECORD your eligibility id number and pin and you fill out the amateurism certificate.
2. Call your high school and request that they FED EX your FINAL, OFFICIAL transcript to the NCAA Clearinghouse at

3. E-mail the FED-EX tracking number to Coach Anna (amc15@stmarys-ca.edu) so she can keep track of your transcript's progress through the clearinghouse.
4. Go to www.collegeboard.com (SAT) OR http://www.actstudent.org (ACT) and have your SAT/ACT scores sent directly to the NCAA Eligibility Center. They must be sent from the testing board to be considered valid.
5. Complete your amateurism certification by loging back into the Eligibility Center and signing the 10.1 statement.
Notes:
• You may qualify for a fee waiver if you received a fee waiver when you took the SAT or ACT.
• If you have attended more than one high school (grades 9-12), the Eligibility Center must receive at original transcript from each school
• If you think you have already registered with the clearinghouse, log in to the clearinghouse to confirm. You will still need to complete the amateurism certification.
• Most often this process simply takes being persistent and timely. YOU MUST BE REGISTERED in order to race. START THE PROCESS TODAY.
