Eran Ganot spent five consecutive seasons and eight overall as a member of the Saint Mary's College men's basketball staff. He served as a volunteer assistant from 2003-06, an assistant coach from 2010-14 and was named associate head coach in 2014-15.
On April 9, 2015, he was named the head coach at the University of Hawai'i.
After spending four seasons (2006-10) at Hawai'i, including the last three as an assistant coach, Ganot returned to Moraga in 2010-11. He was involved in all phases of program operation and on-floor coaching. He also coordinated all recruiting and scouting efforts and was responsible for game scheduling. In 2013-14, he served as acting head coach for five games and compiled a 3-2 record.
Since his arrival back on campus prior to the 2010-11 season, the Gaels have remained one of the top programs in the country. Saint Mary's was one of just four teams nationally to have won 25 games or more for each of his five seasons and the team Gaels played in two NCAA Tournaments and made three NIT appearances.
During Ganot's recent 5-year tenure, SMC posted a 111-42 overall record, earned two regular-season WCC titles, appeared in the WCC Tournament championship game three times and claimed two league players of the year.
While at Hawai'i, Ganot was responsible for recruiting, scheduling and player development with an emphasis on the UH guards. He is also involved in scouting of future opponents and film breakdown with UH players.
Ganot, who served as the director of basketball operations in 2006-07 under long-time head coach Riley Wallace, was promoted to full-time assistant coach beginning in the 2007-08 season by Bob Nash. A rising star in the coaching ranks, Ganot stood out for his tireless work ethic, basketball insight and devotion to the UH program.
As director of basketball operations, Ganot was responsible for numerous duties including coordinating team travel, working with the scout team and assisting with recruiting, scheduling and film exchange. In addition, Ganot helped handle the day-to-day operation of the basketball office and supervised the team managers.
Prior to UH, Ganot spent three years (2003-06) at Saint Mary's under head coach Randy Bennett. Ganot was responsible for overseeing academics and assisted with scheduling and recruiting. He also coordinated film exchange and video breakdown for Saint Mary's.
The Gaels went 61-33, at the time, the best three-year record in school history and twice appeared in the West Coast Conference Championship game during his stay. The 2004-05 squad finished 25-9 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for just the fourth time in school history. In 2006, Ganot received the school's Mike Gibbons Volunteer of the Year Award.
Ganot earned a bachelor's degree in economics and sociology/anthropology at Pennsylvania's academically elite Swarthmore College in 2003. He was a four-year letterman for the Division III school and twice served as team captain, as selected by his teammates and coaches. A gym rat who played all five positions at Swarthmore, Ganot received the Dick Beppler Memorial Award his senior year which recognized outstanding contribution to the men's basketball team.
A 1999 graduate of Tenafly High School in New Jersey, Ganot was a two-time all-league first-team pick and was named to the all-county team as a senior. During his senior season, he helped Tenafly to a 22-4 league record and its first league title in 32 years.
