MORAGA, Calif. - Saint Mary's volleyball head coach Rob Browning is pleased to announce another addition to the talented incoming class for the 2011 season. Frances "Frannie" Cormier (Rancho Santa Fe, Torrey Pines High School) has been admitted to Saint Mary's as a member of the 2014 class.
"Frannie compliments an exceptionally strong recruiting class for us in 2011," said Browning. "She is a versatile player who is comfortable in the front row and the back row. With Frannie we add needed depth to our young team. As always, we put a high premium on the character of our recruits, and Frannie is as good a person as she is a volleyball player. We are happy to include Frannie and her parents in our volleyball family and we look forward to much success with Frannie on our team."
Cormier is a 5-10 outside hitter who lettered two years for the Torrey Pines High School Falcons. In her two seasons as a member of the Falcons squad she helped guide her team to the CIF finals in 2009, as well as back-to-back Avocado League Championships in 2009 and 2010.
In her senior season, her high school team was ranked 46th in the state of California and 256th in the nation. In 2010, she helped the Falcons post an overall record of 20-12 including a perfect 9-0 in Avocado League play. In two seasons with the Falcons she recorded an overall record of 44-23-0 including an impressive 17-1 mark in league play.
She currently plays for the 951 Volleyball Club in Wildomar, Calif. where she helped her club team finish ninth out of 234 teams in the Southern California Volleyball Association.
Cormier joins Dalas Dodd, Konami Yokoyama and Samantha Tinsley as members of the 2014 class that will join the Gaels for the 2011 season.
