
Bryan Byrne Bio

Bryan Byrne is in his first season as Director of Baseball Operations at Saint Mary's. He returns to SMC after playing six seasons in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization. Prior to his professional career, Bryan played three seasons at Saint Mary's College from 2003-2005 and played for current head coach Jedd Soto in 2004 and 2005.
Byrne posted a career batting average of .330 while playing for the Gaels. In 2003, Byrne was named WCC Freshman of the Year, Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American, and All-WCC First Team. He also earned All-WCC First Team honors as a junior in 2005. After his junior season, the Arizona Diamondbacks selected him in the 12th round of the 2005 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft.
In his six seasons with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Bryan reached the Triple-A level and had a career minor league batting average of .283. In 2008, Bryan was named the Offensive Player of the Year for the Mobile Baybears, hitting a team-high batting average of .303. He was a two-time Southern League (AA) All-Star and the current Mobile Baybears (AA) RBI franchise record holder.
Byrne completed his undergraduate degree in Kinesiology: Sports Management in the fall of 2006 and is currently enrolled in the Kinesiology Masters program at Saint Mary's.
