MORAGA, Calif. - Saint Mary's rowing coach Anna Cohen has been promoted to Associate Head Coach. She will be entering her fifth year with the Gaels in 2012-13, serving as the recruiting coordinator, novice coach and assistant varsity coach at SMC.
"I'm thrilled to announce Anna's promotion to Associate Head Coach," said head coach Nicole Younts. "She's been an integral part of our team's success and it's great to see her recognized for her many contributions to SMC Rowing."
Cohen has also had a huge hand in program management and organization, including travel, boathouse management and trailer-driving duties. She has coached every walk-on to come through Saint Mary's in the last four years and the program has had walk-on athletes in all of the Championship boats in each of these years.
"Anna's competitive drive, high level of integrity, and willingness to step in wherever needed has had a direct impact on the speed and growth of our team over the last four years," continued Younts. "She has a positive, "can-do" attitude and is always finding ways we can improve the program."
She was the novice coach of Saint Mary's Rowing first-ever All-American athlete, Maryann Concannon '14 who received 2nd-team honors in 2012. Coach Cohen was awarded the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) West Region Assistant Coach of the Year award in 2011.
