2015 (Junior): Established himself as one of SMC's top pinch-hit options off the bench and thrived in the role, hitting .458 (11 for 24) in 18 games played ... started three games, all in the outfield, and hit safely in all three contests ... led the team in pinch hits with five ... had multi-hit games against CSUN and Santa Clara ... also scored two runs and drove in two.
2014 (Sophomore): Began the season as a utility man but forced his way into the everyday lineup and never left it, playing mostly corner outfield in his first season of play for SMC ... Played in 49 games, starting 42, and hit .264 with 19 runs, 10 RBI and six extra-base hits ... Was at his strongest over the first third of the season, hitting .320 in Saint Mary's first 18 games ... Had nine multi-hit games, including four in the final eight games of the season ... Second on the team in sacrifices with nine ... Stole eight bases in nine attempts, tying for third on the team in the category ... Closed the season on a strong note, collecting four hits and scoring three runs in the final series of the year at Santa Clara.
2013 (Sophomore): Redshirted in his first year as a Gael.
Junior College: Attended Laney College in Oakland, Calif. ... Hit .323 with one home run, 18 RBI, 31 hits and 10 doubles in his one season at Laney. Also compiled a .356 on-base percentage and .458 slugging percentage. Helped Laney win the Bay Valley Conference and was named first-team all-conference at shortstop.
High School: Prepped at Palma High in Salinas, Calif. ... Hit .296 as a senior with seven multi-hit games, 26 hits, nine extra-base hits and 20 RBI. Was named second-team all-league and was a team captain for the 2009 Central Coast Section Division III champions ... As a junior, hit .299 with five multi-hit games, 19 hits and 18 RBI ... Parents are Mike and Janet Valentin and has one sister, Rachel ... Studying kinesiology at Saint Mary's.
