VB | Madi Wilkerson Named Muscle Milk Newcomer Of The Week

Each week an incoming Saint Mary's student-athlete is highlighted on SMCGaels.com as the Muscle Milk Newcomer of the Week. This week's selection is incoming freshman volleyball player Madi Wilkerson. A native of Midlothian, Texas, Wilkerson recently graduated from Bishop Lynch High School in Dallas.
Q: What made Saint Mary's the school for you?
A: I found it when I was 14 years old. Ever since then, I've wanted to come here. When I first started the recruiting process, California was always a place that I enjoyed. Me and my mom came out for about two weeks, started in L.A. and drove up. We did the camp here and I fell in love with it.
Q: What's the one thing you're most looking forward to about living in California?
A: The weather. Definitely the weather.
Q: What's the one thing you'll miss most about Texas?
A: Definitely my friends.
Q: On day one of college, what's your go-to meal in the cafeteria?
A: Probably pasta.
Q: What is Madi Wilkerson's hidden talent?
A: I don't have one, actually. Not other than volleyball.
Q: Other favorite sports?
A: Even though we don't have a football team, I love football. College football is my favorite, actually.
Q: Favorite team?
A: Auburn really impressed me last year but I don't really have a specific team I always root for. I like it when they impress me.
Q: Is everyone in Texas a Cowboy fan?
A: (laughs) Yeah, I'm a Cowboy fan.
Q: Best. Movie. Ever. Why?
A: Ooh, this is going to be hard because I do watch a lot of movies. Probably The Lincoln Lawyer with Matthew McConaughey. I love forensic science and CSI.
Q: Got a major picked out yet?
A: Most likely psychology because I'm wanting to go the route of forensic science and since they don't have it here, I'll probably start with psychology and see what I can do from there.
Q: Let's say you've got the headphones on before a game. What's on the pregame mix?
A: I love country music but I can't listen to it before games. It just doesn't pump me up. Probably Lil' Wayne.
