Saint Mary's looks to remain hot this week against USF and Santa Clara after two strong wins last week.
MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's hits the road this week to visit two local conference opponents: the San Francisco Dons on Thursday and the Santa Clara Broncos on Sunday.

SCOUTING REPORT
The Gaels are coming off of two hot matches last week in which they swept Gonzaga and beat out Portland 3-1 in a strongly defensive match. With their perfect, 7-0 record at home and their winning conference record, Saint Mary's is ranked 29th in NCAA RPI polls out of 336 teams, with only one other WCC team ranking above them (BYU).
Outside hitter Sarah Chase played a huge role in last week's wins and continues to accumulate impressive stats. Chase picked up 10 kills, five blocks, and two service aces against Gonzaga last Thursday, and then collected a double-double versus Portland with 13 kills and 13 digs, as well as a service ace.
Middle blocker Alex O'Sullivan also played a big role in Saturday's win over Portland, earning the Muscle Milk Student Athlete of the Week Award. O'Sullivan collected six kills, one block solo and six block assists during the match and leads the team with 83 blocks in total.
SAN FRANCISCO
Going into Thursday's match, San Francisco has an overall record of 8-11, but has had a tough go of it in conference matches with a record of 1-7. The Dons are currently on a 7-game losing streak and their last five losses have all ended in sweeps.
Emily Zinger currently leads the Dons with 160 kills, while Kathya Garcia is close behind with a total of 154. Anna Dalla Vecchia holds the top spot for her team with a total of 22 service aces.
SANTA CLARA
Santa Clara has an overall record 5-15 and are winless in conference (0-7). The Broncos have lost their last nine matches, and have been swept in eight of their last nine matches. Two weeks ago, the Broncos nearly beat Gonzaga but ultimately lost 3-2.
The offensive stat leader for the Broncos is freshman Michelle Shaffer who is first in kills (197), service aces (20), and second in digs (198).

The Gaels return home next week for a match against Pacific on October 26th, with two more home matches the following week.
