Redshirt junior Abby Bolt has been named Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for October 29th after a strong race at the WCC Championships last weekend.
MORAGA, Calif. — Redshirt junior Abby Bolt has been named the Muscle Milk Student Athlete of the Week on Monday. After posting a number of impressive races so far this season and helping the Gaels women's cross country team to their best finish since 2001 at the West Coast Conference Championships, Bolt was awarded the honor for her first time.
In Provo last weekend at the WCC Championships, Bolt found herself atop of the standings for the women's team, placing 16th with a time of 21:47:30. The strong race time from Bolt propelled the Gaels to a fifth-place finish among ten teams in the WCC, which is their best finish in the last 17 seasons.
Bolt has been productive for the women's team all season, as she has posted the top time for the Saint Mary's women's team in four of the five invitationals they have competed in this year.
Out of the three 6K's that Bolt has run this season, her best race time came at the Bronco Invitational during mid-October where she ran a 21:27.20 to place 50th out of 209 runners.
Saint Mary's will run one more time this season before Regionals: The Gaels will compete at the Doc Adams Open on Saturday, November 3rd in Davis, Calif.
