SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – Saint Mary's put up big numbers for their second-straight game. This time, the Gaels' highlights were a 28-point lead in the fourth quarter and the first career double-double for
Madeline Holland in their victory over Cal Poly.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- QUARTER 1 | Saint Mary's opened the first quarter with a 9-2 run, highlighted by 3-pointers from Jasmine Forcadilla and Emily Codding. The Gaels continued to dominate the remaining five minutes, outscoring Cal Poly 4-0 and holding the Mustangs to a .154 shooting percentage in the quarter.

- QUARTER 2 | Taycee Wedin got the scoring started in the second, knocking down a triple at the 8:10 mark to give SMC an 11-point, 16-5 lead. Saint Mary's utilized the 3-ball to their advantage in the second set of 10 minutes with three of their five field goals coming from beyond the arc. The Gaels' defense was impenetrable in the opening half as they held the Mustangs to just .154 percent shooting and entered the break with a 27-14 lead.

- QUARTER 3 |Â SMC outscored Cal Poly 8-6 to open the second half and held a 35-20 lead with 4:58 remaining in the quarter. The Mustangs responded with a 6-0 run to pull within 9 (35-26), but Saint Mary's came back with 5-straight points from Codding including a jumper and her third triple of the game. SMC remained in control for the rest of the period and built an 18-point lead to finish the period 46-28. Â

- QUARTER 4 | SMC put back three-consecutive treys to open the fourth quarter, building a 25-point lead (55-30), their biggest advantage to that point in the contest. Wedin was a big offensive contributor in the final period, shooting three 3-pointers and the Gaels' first six field goals were all triples. Cal Poly went on a 13-3 run to end the contest, but it was not enough to take down Saint Mary's and the Gaels won 69-51.
